Coming April 17: New April 2011 Price Increase for US Mail

The folks at Stamps.com just let me know that the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) approved the new April 2011 price increase for a number of mail classes.

The new prices will be implemented on April 17, 2011.   You can see the new prices at pe.usps.com

On average, rates will increase by 3.9% for retail prices (3.2% for Stamps.com/Commercial Base customers).  Rates for First Class Mail, Media Mail, and Parcel Post will not be changed.

If you're worried about getting postage right, remember that if you use Stamps.com, as I do, they'll automatically take care of the postage changes for you when you buy and print postage.

Do you buy Forever Stamps? If you have a stash of "Forever" stamps, even if you bought them before the price change goes into effect, they will work just fine with the new rates.  (Remember, this only applies to physical stamps you purchase at a Post Office or other retail location).
